A message from Marcia Hilty, the 5th Judicial Circuit Director

Every day in the 5th Judicial Circuit (Hernando, Marion, Lake, Citrus, and Sumter county), hundreds of abused and neglected children become involved with our local courts because their parents are unable or unwilling to properly care for them. These children are no different from most children; they simply lack the care, safety, and protection of a stable, capable adult.

The Guardian ad Litem Program, through its legion of trained volunteers and professional staff and non-profit board members, helps such children cope with and overcome these circumstances.  We speak up for them in court and make sure their housing, personal care, education, and healthcare needs are met. Most importantly, we give them faith that things can improve and their lives will be better.

As you read this Voices for Children of North Central Florida webpage, I hope you’ll decide to join us in our efforts to make this a safe and nurturing community for children. I hope you will determine this is just the place to make a lifelong and profound difference.

I urge you to join us in our efforts to help these children

Sincerely yours,

Marcia Hilty

Circuit Director 5th Judicial Circuit Florida
